The Institute of the Religious Teachers Filippini originated in Montefiascone, Viterbo, Italy, from the inspiration of Cardinal Mark Anthony Barbarigo and the creative collaboration of St.Lucy Filippini -- two remarkable figures, one Charism for the church. They founded schools for the daughters of the common people with specific a goal: to free them from religious and moral ignorance by educating their minds and hearts. From a mustard seed springs a robust tree that challenges the ages......The schools multiply in the diocese of Montefiascone and in the surrounding area. Pope Clement XI calls Lucy to Rome in 1707 to found Cardinal Barbarigo's schools in the eternal city. Under the patronage of the Popes and with their generous assistance, the schools are well  established and multiplied in Rome and throughout the world. Today the Pontifical Institute of the Religious Teachers Filippini is present in most continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

St. Lucy said "  O my God,  make me into many Lucys so that, multiplied, I may spread your glory far and wide!"
